Repeating The Mantra

When we first conceived of The 4th Wall, we wanted to present a comic store that was clean, well-lit, with a focus on knowledgeable and friendly customer service.

Y’know, kinda like an Apple Store.

In fact the mantra we repeated over and over again was “Apple Store Meets Comic Store.” Hopefully we’ve come close to achieving this, and I was really happy to read Kendall Swafford’s article on icv2.com today.

There’s a lot we as comic retailers can learn from outside retail environments. Personally, I love going into well-laid out record stores. Also, while they’re mostly not considered “retail” stores, the welcoming and comfortable feeling I’ve had while going into certain tattoo shops and guitar shops has always stuck with me.

What say you? Are there any retail stores out there that really strike you?

I’ll be honest… I don’t shop at places that have sweaty teens and the place looks like my apartment when I was 18. I hate places with loud freaking music that makes you feel like your in a club.

will you have cutboard cutouts of people that sometimes make me think theyre real people?…cause that would be quite creepy ahah

  3. What I need is a clean, well-lighted place.
