Justice Ain’t Got No Age

Archaia Entertainment is a company I had never heard of before Free Comic Book Day, before I ever laid eyes upon their exquisite hardcover book they released for FCBD, and circumstances being what they are, I was recently given another opportunity to admire their handiwork. Recently released, Cowboy by Nate Cosby and Chris Eliopoulos is a treat and another example of why Archaia might soon be at the forefront of comics.

Cowboy tells the story of Boyd Linney, ten year old bounty hunter. What you might be expecting on that short synopsis is a cute book, and Elipoulos’ art style might certainly lead you to believe that it would be a lot like “Calvin and Hobbes” but it is certainly not a “cute” book. It is a full blown western story, told in the right style with just a hint of kid friendly flavor that adults will even enjoy. This is a book I picked up with literally no expectations, not sure what I would be getting out of it, but was definitely surprised at how much I enjoyed it.

That’s just about the story. I haven’t even begun to talk about the quality of the book itself. It is beautifully produced, a very nice looking and feeling hardcover that gives you more than what it’s worth. This is quality that I’ve come to expect from Archaia especially after their FCBD Mousegard hardcover.

This is a great story, wrapped in an excellent package that is definitely worth reading, especially if you’re a fan of Western story-telling. I am waiting with great excitement for the next volume and I’m sure I will see the quality and exquisite story-telling I’ve now come to expect from this company and from the creative team.

Come by and check out COWBOY, and tell us what you think about it!
