For this weeks face behind the comic I interviewed the lovely Natalie Nourigat, Artist and writer behind Between Gears, and artist for Oni press and Lerner publishing group. You can visit her webpage and check out a list of her works. Here’s what she had to say.
1. What made you want to work with comics?
I’ve always loved to draw, and in middle school I started writing as well.
Comics allow you to do both at once; it’s fantastic!
2. Between Gears is an autobiographical comic about your last year at
the university of Oregon, what made you decide to do something so personal ?
Mainly I wanted to document my life for my own benefit–I wanted to have a
record I could go back and refer to much later on and remember what it was
like to be 21/22. I was reading … Read More »
A while ago, we launched an idea called The 4th Wall East.
You may have visited this store from time to time during it’s existence, or come by to check out our friends and roommates at Gamer’s Vault.
Well, here’s the skinny. The 4th Wall East has been folded back into the The 4th Wall proper. We are one store again, bigger, stronger and better than we were before.
The reason for this is simple: It made more sense. We set out to see how two locations of The 4th Wall would operate with each other and in the end we found that we are able to better serve our clients with one, focused, unified operation. Splitting our resources didn’t help us to get comics into our clients hand’s faster or better. So, with that in mind, we brought everything … Read More »

After months of planning, weeks of assembling and days of panicked tweaking, the doors of The 4th Wall East have finally opened!
It’s almost 2 years to the day that we opened The 4th Wall in the West Island area of Montreal and with this second store we are right across the street from a Metro station which gives all of our friends downtown a chance to pop by and see how it is we do things.
But that’s not the only unique feature of The 4th Wall East.
Sure, we’ve still got the services of ComicPull, we’ve still got the focus on the comics reader both new and old, but at the 4th East we are exposing ourselves and the medium we love to a whole new audience: the Gamers.
As you may or may not have heard, the news broke late last night: We are opening a second location of The 4th Wall!
Two years ago next month, we set out to do something different in the world of comics retailing. We wanted to create a store and atmosphere that was completely unique, and bring a different approach to the medium we love so much. We wanted to share these characters, worlds and books with you, and many of you have come to love them just as much as we do.
Two years, one comic strip, an online pull service, a smart car, several sales, Art groups, art shows, conventions, parties and wonderful new friends later, I humbly think that we’ve begun to scratch the surface of the tip of the iceberg.
This second store is a big deal, … Read More »
The first meeting of The Artistic Society of The 4th Wall was held on May 26th, 2011.
We gathered at The 4th Wall after 6pm, and once introductions were made, a general discussion about what we each were looking for from this type of group took place.
Several members look forward to feedback on their various creative projects, other were looking to learn more about comics as a whole, and still other were simply excited to have a creative meeting place and monthly “deadline” to get their ideas out onto paper.
It is a diverse group, with artists, writers, webcomic creators and a few new fans of comics just looking to learn more about the medium.
The meeting lasted until after 8pm, and a couple things were decided:
First, the meetings should start at 7pm to allow for travel and traffic. … Read More »
